The UTSA Open Cloud Institute (OCI) is turning a new page. As part of its strategic push toward “OCI 2.0,” the institute has convened a newly minted Advisory Board composed of industry veterans, academic minds, and ecosystem connectors. This board is positioned to help OCI chart its course in cloud computing, AI, and next-generation research partnerships.
Over its first decade, OCI has built a strong foundation — from launching the Graduate Certificate in Cloud Computing to connecting students and faculty with industry through initiatives like the Catalyst Lab fellowship. As OCI prepares for its next phase, the Advisory Board’s mission is to help define and execute the vision for expansion, partnerships, and positioning in a field that’s rapidly evolving.
As Jeff Prevost, OCI’s executive director, describes it, this board will help guide the institute through strategic decisions in cloud, AI, and institutional collaboration for the next ten years.
Jason Wicker brings over 25 years of leadership in enterprise IT, with deep experience in designing and scaling cloud architectures and strategic alliances. In his current role as Chief Architect for Government, Rackspace, he drives solutions across public sector and hybrid cloud environments.
Charles Woodin serves as CEO of Geekdom, one of San Antonio’s most influential tech hubs and startup communities. Geekdom has cemented itself as a bridge between tech startups, corporate participants, investors, and talent in San Antonio and beyond.
With a newly formed Advisory Board, OCI is positioned to evolve from a successful decade of growth into a bold new chapter. As the institute leans into cloud, AI, and ecosystem orchestration, this board will act as both navigators and emboldeners—helping to steer OCI toward deeper impact locally, nationally, and globally.
